Frequently asked questions

How is 'meeting' counted in the free tier?
It isn't — scheduling is unlimited forever. The only thing counted is AI transcript summaries: five clicks of the Post transcript button per workspace per month on the free tier. Scheduling as many meetings as you want costs nothing.
Do you have access to my meeting audio or transcripts?
No. Transcripts are stored in the meeting organizer's Google Drive by Meet itself. When you click Post transcript, our server briefly fetches the transcript via the Google Meet API using your OAuth token, sends it to Gemini for summarization, posts the result, and does not persist the transcript on our end (only the summary metadata for the retention window).
What does 'Bring your own key' mean on Business?
On Business, you can paste your own Google Gemini or Anthropic API key in your dashboard. Every transcript summary uses your key against your billing account. We never see or store your provider bills. Your OpenAI / Anthropic dashboards remain the source of truth for your AI spend.
What's the difference between the free tier and self-hosting?
The free tier is us hosting it for you at gmslack.com with a 5-transcript-per-month cap. Self-hosting is you running the open-source code on your own infra, with no cap and no vendor between you and Google/Slack. Both are legitimate; self-hosting is best for teams with compliance requirements or strong data-residency preferences.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from your dashboard, no phone call, no email required. Access continues through the end of the billing period, then the workspace reverts to the free tier automatically. Your scheduling keeps working — you just lose the paid AI cap.
Do you support Zoom / Microsoft Teams?
Not yet. GoogMeetSlack is specifically for Google Meet + Slack. Zoom + Teams support is on the roadmap for the second half of 2026; join the mailing list if you want to be told when it lands.
